The Power of Collaboration: NGOs Unite at Inspiring Event on Fundraising

“The Power of Collaboration” event on February 3rd, 2024, was a unique event organised by local NGOs for local NGOs. “Collaboration,” organised by Afua Wilcox from Youth and Women Up brought together NGOs, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), and Community Based Organisations (CBOs) in Eswatini to explore the potential of collaboration in fundraising and its amplified impact. This dynamic event left participants inspired and motivated. The event provided an energetic platform for networking, sharing experiences, and fostering collaboration among organisations dedicated to social good.

Thamsanqa KrTC Sibandze - Narrating his take aways

Thamsanqa Sibandze, popularly known as the KrTC of Hip Hop, expertly hosted the day, ensuring a smooth flow of activities and engaging the audience. However, the day’s highlight was the guest speaker, Nthabiseng Shongwe, a renowned Compassionate Communication Strategist and Narrative Therapy Practitioner from South Africa. Nthabiseng’s captivating presentation on fundraising made a profound impact on the attendees. Nthabiseng emphasised the significance of personal branding when approaching potential partners for funding support. She encouraged participants to recognise their unique value and express gratitude for the contributions of others. She also underscored the role of compassion and empathy in social good work, providing insights and a framework for attracting funding from various sources.

The presentation resonated deeply with participants, who eagerly took notes and expressed gratitude for the invaluable information shared. Landokuhle Dlamini (Director of Beauty with Purpose NGO), in particular, appreciated the advice on NGO audits, stating, “This is essential information, especially for us whose organisations are still new. Thank you.”

The event also included hands-on activities to reinforce the power of collaboration. Participants engaged in a group activity led by the KrTC, highlighting the importance of teamwork. Additionally, Banele Nkambule facilitated a case study showcasing the value of undertaking projects together. The outcome was remarkable; no organisation wanted to embark on projects alone. A WhatsApp group was created to facilitate communication among the attending NGOs to foster ongoing collaboration.

Some NGOs present at the event included Busisiwe Bhembe Foundation, Down Syndrome Eswatini, Dunkylaine Foundation, Elusitweni Women Centre, Liphimbo Labomake, One Billion Rising, SANAKWA, Seven Pillars CDC, Sinatsisa Lubombo, Vukani Basha, Women Engage, Youth Sustainable Development Centre, and YouthLet.

“The Power of Collaboration” event on February 3rd, 2024, left a lasting impression on participants, reigniting their commitment to collaboration and amplifying the impact of their collective efforts. It served as a testament to the potential of collaboration in driving positive change and achieving tremendous fundraising success in Eswatini.
